Session days and times may be adjusted to suit participants and coach availability.
Coaching and progression
-
Each sailor is supported by a qualified Foundation Coach who tracks their progress, sets appropriate session goals, and helps manage transitions between Better Sailing, Green Fleet, and Intermediate Fleet.
-
Please make sure you communicate regularly with your coach about goals, concerns, and availability so we can provide the best possible learning experience.
Boats and equipment
-
You are welcome to sail a club Mirror or Laser (ILCA) if required for training, noting that some sailors will also use their own boats.
-
If any equipment is damaged or breaks during a training session, please inform the leading coach as soon as possible, or record the issue in the maintenance logbook located on the right-hand side of the shed, hanging on the wall.
Communication and WhatsApp group
- For enquiries before joining the WhatsApp group, please email training@maylandsyachtclub.org.au.
-
MYC has a Sailing group chat on WhatsApp - for all members, used mainly for casual sailing notifications and information about upcoming club events.

MYC has a Training Group chat - this group is also the main communication channel for coaching attendance, so please message your availability to the group when you can
-
If you would like to be added to this group, please email include that you are part of this class and your mobile number, and you will be added.

Program Focus:
Green Fleet is an introduction to coaching and learning to train.
Green Fleet promotes practicing the fundamental skills of sailing, introduces some foundation race skills through training activities in an environment that is enjoyable, without a competition focus.
