21st May 2021 - Club Prize Night (all members are encouraged to attend)
28th May 2021- QUIZ NIGHT!
Winter sailing days are the first Sunday of each month, starting 1pm. Next one is 5th June.
All members and their families are encouraged to attend the end of season wind up night. Take this opportunity to enjoy a spit roast and dessert (catered by WA Spit Roast Company), share a tall story, and congratulate our successful sailors from the past summer season.
Certificates will be presented to trainee sailors who did not receive theirs on their last training day. Rear Commodore Training Les has threatened to run novelty events during the evening.
MYC will be heavily subsidising the evening as a way to "give back" to members after an encouraging year. Tickets are only $10/head.
Book here: https://www.trybooking.com/BRADX
For planning purposes, please book in advance rather than relying on paying at the door.
Open to the wider community. Bring your brains trust. Bring your coins.
The prize pool is swelling. Come along for a fun way to support the upgrade of the Club's support boat fleet.
Friday 28th May. 7pm - 10pm.
Tables of 8.
Did you know that a private chat group has been set up on WhatsApp?
Members of this group can post a message to indicate their intention (or desire) to sail on a particular day. Trainee sailors or those reliant on a Club boat are especially encouraged to join this group.
Email the club at email@example.com with your phone number and the subject "Join WhatsApp Sail Group" to join.
As the Club enters the quieter winter season, formal training takes a break.
Email the Club to register your interest in the next course, scheduled for October 2021.
Department of Health Media release dated 21 March 2021: Ongoing monitoring of the Swan River now shows increased levels of the potentially toxic microscopic algae ‘Alexandrium spp.’ from Pelican Point and Matilda Bay, upstream to the West Swan Road Bridge, Guildford.
Other recreational activities including swimming, skiing and boating are not likely to be affected by this microalgae species, but as a general rule swimming should be avoided in areas of discoloured water. For further information, go to the WA Department of Health website.
A win for sailors (dinghy and RC) and kayakers!
The Department of Transport will maintain the limits for water skiing and jet skis around the waters of Maylands Yacht Club.
The announcement can be found here:
No change for upper reaches of the Swan River following consultation (transport.wa.gov.au)
A Call For Volunteers
MYC is looking for volunteers to help run the morning and afternoon training/racing fixtures on Sundays. There are several roles that need to be filled to ensure an enjoyable day on the water, so please contact Club Secretary Steve Rose for details if you would like to assist the club.
